Nervous about therapy?
Therapy can be very nerve wracking, so let’s walk through what you can expect in a typical session with me!
Individual Therapy
Intake sessions are our initial session together. In this session I will ask some questions to get to know you and your presenting interest in coming to therapy. This session may last anywhere between 40 - 50 mins. Rapport building is developed during our first session as well.
Before the end of our intake, we will discuss frequency of sessions. This may be weekly, multiple times a week, every other week, once a month or as needed (totally dependent on severity of concerns as well as financial means).
Relationship Therapy
Similar to individual counseling we will have a 40 - 50 min intake session. During this session, I will gain information from all parties involved and assess next steps as well as discuss frequency of therapy. Prior to the end of the intake session we will schedule individual counseling sessions.
Post intake, I recommend seeing couples individually at least once. During these individual sessions we will discuss history of the relationship, individual wants and expectations as well as a brief history of individual mental health related stressors that may contribute to the relationship struggle.
After the individual sessions we will go back to our regular relationship therapy sessions and discuss next steps and plans of action.
Please note: I do not counsel couples+ who are in an ongoing affair.
